Reading/Sending Mail: The User Choices
There are two main “types” of User Email management software: Local and Remote.
A local mail program runs on the same computer system in which the user Internet account/mailbox resides (e.g. CSA or ACS).
A remote mail program runs on a computer system that is not necessarily the one in which your Internet account/mailbox resides (e.g. your home computer).
