The HTTP Protocol:Universal Resource Locator
Any Web Page on the Internet is fully identified using a Universal Resource Locator (URL).
The URL identifies the following information:
- The name of the computer on which the HTTP server is running (e.g. www.cs.bu.edu)
- The port number on which the HTTP server is running (e.g. port #80)
- The name of the file containing the Web page to be fetched.
